The ExcelDye™ 6× DNA Loading Dye (Green) is pre-mixed buffer for tracking the DNA sample during the electrophoresis on agarose or polyacrylamide gels. It contains two dyes (Xylene cyanol FF and Orange G) for tracking the DNA migration. The Xylene cyanol FF and Orange G migrate at approximately 800 bp and 30 bp on a standard 2% TAE agarose gel respectively (4,000 bp and 50 bp on 1% TAE agarose gel respectively). The included glycerol keeps the DNA at the bottom of the well and the presence of EDTA chelates divalent metal ions to prevent the process of metal-dependent nuclease.

Mycoplasma is a common and serious contaminant of cell cultures. Mycoplasma is often not visible and does not respond to antibiotics, and therefore it is a major issue that requires monitoring and early detection. Up to 30% of cell cultures may be contaminated with Mycoplasmas, the main contaminants being the species M. orale, M. laidlawii, M. arginini and M. hyorhinis. These organisms produce a variety of effects on the infected cells in culture, including changes in metabolism growth, viability and morphology, thereby altering the phenotypic characteristics of the host cells. Therefore there is an absolute requirement for routine, periodic assays to diagnose possible Mycoplasma contamination of all cell cultures, particularly continuous or established cell lines.

For research use only and NOT intended for in vitro diagnostics.
Storage Conditions and Product Stability All kit components can be stored for 2 years after the date of production without showing any reduction in performance.
All kit components should be stored at -20°C upon arrival. Repeated thawing and freezing (> 2 x) of the Master Mix and Positive Control should be avoided, as this may affect the performance of the assay. If the reagents are to be used only intermittently, they should be frozen in aliquots.
CE-IVD marked version available for in vitro diagnostic use
Available in TaqMan format for analysis
The Zika Virus (ZIKV) is an emerging mosquito-borne virus that was first identified in Uganda in 1947 in Rhesus monkeys through monitoring of sylvatic yellow fever. During large outbreaks in French Polynesia and Brazil, national health authorities reported potential neurological and auto-immune complications of ZIKV disease. Agencies investigating the Zika outbreaks are finding an increasing body of evidence about the link between ZIKV and microcephaly. Infection with ZIKV may be suspected based on symptoms and recent history (e.g. residence or travel to an area where ZIKV is known to be present). Zika virus diagnosis can only be confirmed by laboratory testing for the presence of ZIKV RNA in the blood or other body fluids, such as urine or saliva.
