The Zika Virus (ZIKV) is an emerging mosquito-borne virus that was first identified in Uganda in 1947 in Rhesus monkeys through monitoring of sylvatic yellow fever. During large outbreaks in French Polynesia and Brazil, national health authorities reported potential neurological and auto-immune complications of ZIKV disease. Agencies investigating the Zika outbreaks are finding an increasing body of evidence about the link between ZIKV and microcephaly. Infection with ZIKV may be suspected based on symptoms and recent history (e.g. residence or travel to an area where ZIKV is known to be present). Zika virus diagnosis can only be confirmed by laboratory testing for the presence of ZIKV RNA in the blood or other body fluids, such as urine or saliva.

Norgen’s Preserved Blood RNA Purification Kit II provides a rapid method for the isolation and purification of total RNA from blood that has been preserved using PAXgene Blood RNA Tubes*. The kit purifies all sizes of RNA, from large mRNA and ribosomal RNA down to microRNA (miRNA) and small interfering RNA (siRNA). The RNA is preferentially purified from other cellular components such as proteins, without the use of phenol or chloroform.
Purification is based on spin column chromatography using Norgen’s proprietary resin as the separation matrix. Norgen’s proprietary resin provides superior affinity to the full size range of RNA molecules, resulting in large and small RNA (miRNA) purification with better linearity and sensitivity. The purified RNA is of the highest integrity, and can be used in a number of downstream applications including real time RT-PCR, RT-PCR, Northern blotting, RNase protection and primer extension, expression profiling, miRNA cloning and amplification and Next Generation Sequencing.
* PAXgene Blood RNA Tubes are a product of PreAnalytiX GmbH. PAXgene Blood RNA Tubes are not provided.

Description
The PM2510 ExcelBand™ Enhanced 3-color Regular Range Protein Marker is a ready-to-use three-color protein standard with 10 pre-stained proteins covering a wide range of molecular weights from 10 to 180 kDa in Tris-Glycine Buffer (9 to 170 kDa in Bis-Tris (MOPS) buffer and 10 to 170 kDa Bis-Tris (MES) buffer). Proteins are covalently coupled with a blue chromophore except for two reference bands (one green and one red band at 25 kDa and 75 kDa respectively) when separated on SDS-PAGE (Tris-Glycine buffer). PM2510 ExcelBand™ Enhanced 3-color Regular Range Protein Marker is designed for monitoring protein separation during SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, verification of Western transfer efficiency on membranes (PVDF, nylon, or nitrocellulose) and for approximating the size of proteins.
Features
Contents
Approximately 0.2~0.6 mg/ml of each protein in the buffer (20 mM Tris-phosphate (pH 7.5), 2% SDS, 3.6 M urea, and 15% (v/v) glycerol).
Quality Control
Under suggested conditions, PM2510 ExcelBand™ Enhanced 3-color Regular Range Protein Marker resolves 10 major bands in 15% SDS-PAGE (Tris-Glycine buffer, MOPS, and MES buffer) and after Western blotting to nitrocellulose membrane.
Storage
4°C for 3 months
-20°C for long term storage
