Exceptional value for money Rapid detection of all clinically relevant subtypes Positive copy number standard curve for quantification Highly specific detection profile High priming efficiency Broad dynamic detection range (>6 logs) Sensitive to < 100 copies of target
Accurate controls to confirm findings
Nucleic acid testing (NAT) is the method of choice for detection and quantification of a wide range of micro organisms. Primerdesign manufactures and supplies high quality quantitative real-time PCR kits for the detection and simultaneous quantification of numerous significant pathogens . A copy number standard curve is provided for quantification and an the internal extraction template (DNA or RNA), controls for the quality of the nucleic acid extraction and eliminates false negative results.
The kit is designed with the broadest possible detection profile to ensure that all clinically relevant strains and subtypes are detected. Target sequences are selected by working with data from key opinion leaders in the field. Multiple sequence alignments and unprecedented real-time PCR expertise in design and validation ensure the best possible kit.
Details of the target and priming specificity are included in the individual handbooks above.

Overview
Detection kits for Clostridium difficile
CE-IVD marked version available for in vitro diagnostic use
Available in TaqMan format for analysis
Clostridium difficile is rod-shaped, gram positive bacterium. It is the main causal agent of antibiotic-associated diarrhea and pseudomembranous colitis. The colonization of intestines by C. difficile is usually associated with the elimination of natural intestinal flora as a result of antibiotic application and is frequently reported in health care centers. While C. difficile infection could be severe and life-threatening, particularly among the elderly, many patients are asymptomatic making diagnosis challenging during outbreaks. The tradition method of detecting C. difficile infection is by cytotoxicity test of the toxin produced by the bacterium, but such protocols usually require extensive time before conclusion can be made.
Storage Conditions and Product Stability All kit components can be stored for 2 years after the date of production without showing any reduction in performance.
All kit components should be stored at -20°C upon arrival. Repeated thawing and freezing (> 2 x) of the Master Mix and Positive Control should be avoided, as this may affect the performance of the assay. If the reagents are to be used only intermittently, they should be frozen in aliquots.
Saliva DNA purified using Norgen’s kit is of the highest quality, and is compatible with a number of downstream research applications including PCR, Southern Blot analysis, sequencing and microarray analysis.
Background
Saliva represents an excellent non-invasive alternative to blood collection. Human genomic DNA extracted from buccal epithelial cells and white blood cells found in saliva can be used in various applications in diagnostics. Saliva DNA can be used for the detection of biomarkers to diagnose a disease, follow the diseases progress or monitor the effects of a particular treatment. Saliva DNA can also be used to diagnose particular types of infections. Isolation of DNA from saliva has become an attractive alternative to isolation from blood or tissue due to the fact that sample collection is non-invasive, the samples can be collected by individuals with little training, and no special equipment is required. Norgen’s Saliva DNA Isolation Kit provides a fast and simple procedure for isolating genomic DNA from both preserved saliva samples and fresh saliva samples.
Storage Conditions and Product Stability All solutions should be kept tightly sealed and stored at room temperature. This kit is stable for 1 year after the date of shipment. The kit contains a ready-to-use Proteinase K, which is dissolved in a specially prepared storage buffer. The buffered Proteinase K is stable for up to 1 year after the date of shipment when stored at room temperature.
Norgen’s TaqMan 2x PCR Master Mix is a ready-to-use TaqMan 2x PCR Master Mix solution that contains a PCR internal control which can be detected by HEX/VIC channel in a real-time PCR machine. By detecting the internal control users can validate the DNA template quality, thereby preventing any false negatives in the PCR results. The user needs only to add template, target TaqMan primer/probe mix and water to set up the TaqMan real-time PCR.
PCR Control: TaqMan 2x PCR Master Mix contains PCR control primers/probe (HEX/VIC) and PCR control template. The PCR control reaction in the TaqMan 2x PCR Master Mix is optimized to not interfere with target amplification. The fluorescence of the target probe should not be HEX/VIC.
