Microcystin are a class of hepatotoxins produced by blue-green algae such as Microcystis aeruginosa. Microcystin-LR is the most common of the over 50 different congeners. Cyanobacteria can produce microcystin in large quantities during an algae bloom which then pose a major threat.
This kit can be used for quantitative test of Microcystin in liquid samples such as water, wastewater, algal cultures, and solid samples such as fish.

Norgen’s cf-DNA/cf-RNA Preservative Tubes Dx are closed, evacuated plastic tubes for the collection and the preservation of cf-DNA, circulating tumor DNA, cf-RNA and circulating tumor cells in human whole blood samples during storage and shipping. Using these tubes in combination with Norgen’s Plasma/Serum Cell-Free Circulating DNA Purification Kits or Norgen’s Plasma/Serum RNA Purification Kits enables the purification and concentration of an inhibitor-free cf-DNA/ct-DNA/cf-RNA in a very small elution volume.
These tubes are ideal for collecting and preserving cf-DNA and cf-RNA samples for in vitro diagnostic use for medical purposes.
Performance
Norgen’s cf-DNA/cf-RNA Preservative Tubes Dx abridge the collection/processing of whole blood for the subsequent purification of cf-DNA and/or cf-RNA. The cf-DNA/cf-RNA Preservative Tubes Dx preserve and inhibit the programmed cell-death (apoptosis) of the blood, hence preventing the release of intracellular DNA/RNA into plasma. Whole blood samples can be shipped and stored at room temperature for the subsequent processing of plasma. The cf/ct DNA and cf-RNA levels are stable for up to 30 days at room temperature. The cf-DNA is also stable for up to 8 days at 37°C.

HiDi® stands for High Discrimination of mismatches at the 3’-terminus of primers in PCR. This myPOLS Biotec enzyme family is optimized for this feature and is the first choice for applications that rely on this property such as allele-specific PCR (asPCR) or allele-specific amplification (ASA).Please note: This DNA polymerase is also available as a nuclease deficient variant, featuring higher robustness towards potential PCR inhibitors and compatibility with real-time dyes such as our GreenDye.Benchmarking with products of competitors conducted by us and others show that the HiDi® DNA polymerase family is the first choice for highly selective PCRs, such as genotyping by allele-specific PCR, HLA genotyping, analysis of single CpG methylation sites or the detection of mutations in a high background of wild-type sequences. By using HiDi® Taq DNA polymerase, less than 10 copies of a mutation can be detected in a background of >10.000 wild-type copies straight away without any other tedious assay optimization.HiDi® Taq DNA polymerase harbours a nuclease function and therefor is also suitable for use with hydrolysis probes (TaqMan® probes etc.). It has also been shown that HiDi® DNA polymerase family is highly suitable for quality control and mutation identification in CRISPR-Cas or TALEN-based applications.Several independently conducted studies show that HiDi® Taq DNA polymerase is ideally suited for use in asPCR in numerous research areas ranging from mutation detection to genome editing. Example Primer Design
Matching vs. mismatching nucleotide is placed at the 3′-end of the primer for best discrimination results.
Example Results – There´s no accounting for taste
Cilantro: some people love it in their food, some hate it. Here we are detecting a genomic SNP (rs72921001) in HeLa genomic DNA. This SNP is reported to be close to a number of genes coding for olfactory receptors. (Reference: Eriksson N. et al. (2012), “A genetic variant near olfactory receptor genes influences cilantro preference.”)
Considering, that only the C-allele specific primer is extended and yielding in a specific amplicon, we can conclude a genetic predisposition in disliking cilantro, as this SNP is significantly associated with detecting a soapy taste to cilantro.
Allele-specific PCRs were performed from 1 ng/µl of HeLa gDNA in the presence of a realtime dye, indicating the amplification of the C-allele specific primer only. The A-allele specific primer is discriminated, thus not amplified up to 50 cycles.
PCR products were subsequently analysed on a 2.5% agarose gel. Specific product is visualized by ethidium bromide staining at the amplicon length of 109 bp.

Plasmid DNA is ready for various downstream applications including restriction digestion, bacterial transformation, sequencing and more
Available in 4 formats: MiniPrep, MiniPrep (Magnetic Bead System), 96-Well MiniPrep (Magnetic Bead System), and MaxiPrep
These kits are designed for the rapid preparation of plasmid DNA from Escherichia coli.
Plasmid MiniPrep Kit
This kit is designed for the rapid preparation of plasmid DNA from small cultures of Escherichia coli using convenient spin columns. The plasmid DNA is preferentially purified from other cellular components such as genomic DNA and RNA. This kit is able to purify plasmids up to 13,000 bp in size, and the typical purification yield is up to 20 μg from 1.5 mL of bacterial culture. Purified DNA is of excellent quality for transformation, restriction enzyme digestion, sequencing and more. Also available in a 96-well format.
Plasmid MiniPrep Kit (Magnetic Bead System and High Throughput Magnetic Bead System)
Norgen’s Plasmid MiniPrep Kit (Magnetic Bead System) is designed for the rapid preparation of plasmid DNA from small batch cultures of Escherichia coli. Norgen’s magnetic beads bind DNA under optimized salt concentrations and release the bound DNA under low salt and slightly alkali conditions. The plasmid DNA is preferentially purified from other cellular components such as genomic DNA and RNA. The purified plasmids are fully digestible with all restriction enzymes tested, and are completely compatible with real-time PCR and NGS.
Norgen’s Plasmid MiniPrep Kit (Magnetic Bead System) is also available in a 96-well (HT) format for high throughput applications. Purification with the 96-well plates can be integrated with a robotic automation system.
Plasmid MaxiPrep Kit
This kit is designed for the rapid spin column preparation of plasmid DNA from up to 100 mL of Escherichia coli cultures. The kit allows for the isolation of plasmid DNA with final endotoxin levels of 0.1 EU/µg of DNA or less. The kit is able to purify plasmids up to 13,000 bp in size, and typical yields from a 100 mL culture for a high copy number plasmid are between 0.4 and 1.0 mg. The purified DNA is fully digestible with all restriction enzymes tested, and is completely compatible with manual or automated sequencing to achieve 95-100% accuracy.
Storage Conditions and Product Stability All solutions should be kept tightly sealed and stored at room temperature. This kit is stable for 1 year from the date of shipment. The RNase should be stored at -20°C upon arrival. The Resuspension Solution A should be stored at 4°C upon addition of RNase enzyme.
